Even though the official word says Scarlet Witch is gone for good, there’s still one story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that might need her. Here’s why Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, might be more important than we think.
The Ever-Changing MCU
The MCU is a big place, and just like in real life, characters come and go. Some, like Iron Man or Captain America, meet their heroic ends. Others, like Nick Fury, just haven’t been seen lately. But with new movies and TV shows popping up all the time, there’s always a chance for old favorites to return.
Scarlet Witch’s Journey
We first met Wanda in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” alongside her brother Pietro. They weren’t exactly on the good side at first, but they eventually joined the Avengers to fight the bad guy, Ultron. Over time, Wanda became a powerful hero herself, even falling in love with Vision. But things got tough. Wanda lost Pietro, then Vision sacrificed himself to save the universe.
WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2
Wanda’s grief took a dark turn in the TV show “WandaVision.” She created a fake reality where she could live happily ever after with Vision. In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Wanda became desperate to find a reality where her lost loved ones were alive. This put her at odds with Doctor Strange, and well… let’s just say things didn’t end well for Wanda.
Is She Really Gone?
While some superhero deaths are clear-cut (looking at you, Thanos!), others leave room for debate. The MCU has pulled off death fakeouts before, and the existence of the multiverse opens the door for characters to return from different realities.
However, a recent MCU book confirms Wanda’s death. But that doesn’t mean she can’t be important to one story in particular: Vision’s return.
Vision Quest: A Story Waiting for Wanda
An upcoming Disney+ series called “Vision Quest” is rumored to be in the works. It would focus on bringing back Vision, somehow. Here’s where Wanda comes in.
In the comics, Vision has died and come back several times. Sometimes, his essence or memories are used to rebuild him. Wanda’s connection to Vision is incredibly strong, and her magic could potentially play a role in his return.
Why is Wanda Important to Vision’s Return?
Even though they’re both gone, the love story between Wanda and Vision is one of the most powerful in the MCU. Their bond is undeniable, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Wanda’s presence, even in memory or spirit, is key to bringing Vision back.
Maybe Wanda left something behind, a magical imprint or a piece of her chaos magic, that could be used in Vision’s revival. Perhaps her grief and love for Vision itself hold the power to spark his return.
More Questions Than Answers
Right now, there’s more we don’t know than what we do about “Vision Quest” and Wanda’s potential involvement. But the very idea of the series highlights how important Wanda is to the MCU, even after her death.
Her story isn’t over yet, at least not entirely. Her impact on the characters and the world she left behind is undeniable. And who knows, maybe someday we’ll see Wanda return in some way, too.
The MCU is full of surprises, and with the multiverse as a playground, anything is possible. One thing’s for sure: Scarlet Witch has left a lasting mark, and her story is far from over, even in death.
