Hallmark Channel’s newest original movie, “A Not So Royal Christmas,” follows the story of Charlotte, a London-based tabloid journalist, who travels to the fictional Scandinavian country of Nordin to secure an interview with the extremely reclusive Count Lars Ludwig Von Taylor.
Upon her arrival in Nordin, Charlotte quickly learns that the Count is notoriously private and has never granted an interview to anyone. However, she is determined to get her story, and she won’t let anything stand in her way.
One day, while exploring the palace grounds, Charlotte encounters Adam, a palace landscaper. Mistaking him for the Count, she introduces herself and asks for an interview. Adam, caught off guard, doesn’t have the heart to correct her, so he agrees to the interview.
Meanwhile, a member of the Royal Advisory Council witnesses Charlotte’s encounter with Adam and decides to go along with the charade. They figure that having a “Count” who is willing to talk to the press could be beneficial for the royal family’s image.
As Adam poses as the Count, he starts to clash with the royal family’s traditions. He questions why everything has to be so formal and suggests that they modernize some of their customs. The royal family is initially resistant to Adam’s ideas, but they eventually come to see the value in his suggestions.
Over time, Charlotte and Adam develop a strong connection. They spend their days touring the palace and learning about each other’s lives. Charlotte is drawn to Adam’s down-to-earth nature and his genuine concern for the people of Nordin. Adam, in turn, is attracted to Charlotte’s intelligence and her passion for her work.
Just as things are starting to heat up between Charlotte and Adam, she discovers that he is not actually the Count. Charlotte is furious with Adam for lying to her, but she can’t help but feel a sense of relief. She had been starting to fall for Adam, and she knew that a relationship with him could never work.
Despite her disappointment, Charlotte decides to keep Adam’s secret. She doesn’t want to ruin his life or embarrass the royal family.
In the end, Charlotte decides to write an article about the real Count Lars Ludwig Von Taylor. She praises him for his commitment to his country and his people. She also writes about Adam, highlighting his work as a palace landscaper and his genuine care for the royal family.
“A Not So Royal Christmas” is a heartwarming and charming story about love, acceptance, and the importance of being true to oneself. It is a perfect movie to get you into the holiday spirit.
