Earlier this week, reports emerged that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had granted Animal an Adults Only (A) certificate, citing the film’s mature themes and explicit scenes. The CBFC had reportedly requested director Sandeep Reddy Vanga to make certain modifications to the film, including reducing the length of some intimate scenes.
In an interview with The Hindu, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga expressed his satisfaction with the A certificate, stating that Animal was indeed intended for mature audiences only. He further added that he would not recommend the film for his own son due to its explicit content.
About Animal:
Animal is a gritty and intense crime drama that revolves around a complex father-son relationship. Anil Kapoor portrays the emotionally distant and detached father, while Ranbir Kapoor essays the role of his traumatized and enraged son. The film explores the toxic dynamics between the two generations and the deep-rooted psychological scars that have shaped their lives.
The film’s trailer, released in Delhi, featured Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna alongside Ranbir Kapoor. During the press conference, Ranbir drew a comparison between Animal and Karan Johar’s iconic family drama, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, stating, “This is an adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.”
Animal marks Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s second directorial venture in Bollywood, following his critically acclaimed debut film, Kabir Singh (2019), starring Shahid Kapoor. With its captivating storyline, stellar performances, and bold content, Animal has undoubtedly grabbed the attention of audiences and established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of Indian cinema.
